Sustainability

Producing new garments isn't sustainable and we don't pretend that it is. Since we are in the business of making goods, we have a responsibility to offset and understand the scope of our environmental impact. First and foremost, we produce in limited quantities to avoid leftover inventory and waste. In a system where brands destroy billions of dollars of merchandise annually without batting an eye, we hope to disrupt this system permanently.

Our clothing is 100% recyclable. A lot of people call this “circular fashion”. But, given the mess our planet is in right now, we call it the only way forward for fashion.

We adhere to a “no waste” policy by upcycling batik fabrics and leftover denim scraps into our patchwork designs.

By creating pieces made of quality fabrics and with classic silhouettes, our goal is to have our pieces not just last a lifetime, but be passed down from generation to generation, and live long enough to find a new home.

100% of our pieces are made from natural, raw fabrics like cotton. The fabrics in our clothing determine up to 66% of the environmental impact of your clothes. Because of this, we choose fibers that have the best impact on people and the planet.

Since its inception, Orta has been weaving a denim heritage passed from generation to generation. Orta shares our goal in creating ethical, long-lasting, and good quality denim that has low impact and even a positive impact on the environment. Aiming to be the leading denim brand pursuing sustainable lifestyles and production, Orta founded its sustainability division ORTA BLU in 2010. 70 years of denim innovation can only come from a century of Turkish textile artisans.

Our denim production has a neutral environmental footprint, minimizing harm to the planet.

We design our clothes to last longer, which means you're going to have to take care of them for longer, too. And that you probably need to clean up your laundry routine. A huge part of clothing’s carbon footprint happens while washing and caring for your garments in between wears. Check out our Wash Guide for more information on how to care for your Lolakos.
